Summer Fellowship
The Chariot Summer Research Fellowship (CSRF) was formed in 2017 to provide an opportunity for students interested in anesthesiology with clinical exposure and involvement in cutting-edge research. Students will spend time shadowing in the operating room, interacting with patients in research studies, as well as writing up their findings for submission to conferences. Some of our current projects involve the use of technology, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, video projection, or interactive video games, to address anxiety in hospitalized patients undergoing procedures and diagnostic studies.
Attentive mentors are readily available to help guide students in their journey through medicine, as well as push students to continuously challenge themselves. CSRF will be both a fun and highly rewarding experience. Additionally, fellows will have the opportunity to build lasting collaborative relationships with each other, all while exploring what the beautiful campus of Stanford has to offer.
Fellowship Application Season starts in December and ends in February. Applicants should be willing to dedicate a minimum of 6 weeks full-time during the summer to the fellowship.

David Baker is a rising junior at Oral Roberts University on the pre-med track. David is an aspiring physician with a passion for global health engagement.
Liza Jernigan graduated from Boston College (‘25) with a B.A. in Psychology and Medical Humanities. She is passionate about pain medicine and using innovative mind-body techniques to improve patient care.
Kai Tengco Hoyos is a rising junior at Brown University. He studies neuroscience, is on the wrestling team, and is passionate about patient-centered care.
Lucy Shang is an incoming M4 at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai applying into Anesthesiology this fall. Having worked with Chariot since 2024 and began a VR program for pediatric patients at Mount Sinai, she is passionate about leveraging technology to enhance patient experience and reduce perioperative pain and anxiety.
Matthew Su is a rising second year medical student at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Originally from New Jersey and a graduate of UC Berkeley, Matthew is hoping to pursue anesthesiology.
Tori Lee is a rising senior at the Proof School in San Francisco with a strong interest in robotics and information sciences applied to patient care.
Sophia Chen is a rising senior at Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton. She is passionate about working with kids and hopes to study neuroscience and medical humanities in college.
